You will need:
- 150 g butter, cut into pieces, plus extra for greasing
- 180 g plain flour
- 120 g rolled oats
- 110 g soft brown sugar
- 70 g shredded coconut
- 2 tbsp golden syrup
- ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 2 tbsp water, boiled
Step by Step Guide :
One
Preheat oven to 160°C. Grease and line a square baking dish (21 cm) with baking paper, allowing a 2 cm overhang at each end. Set dish aside.
Two
Place flour, oats, sugar and coconut into mixing bowl and combine
Three
Place butter and golden syrup into mixing bowl and melt
Four
Add bicarbonate of soda and water and mix
Five
Add reserved oats mixture and combine

Using the back of a spoon, press mixture evenly into dish, then bake for 15-30 minutes (160°C – see Tips).

Allow to cool in dish before cutting into squares and serving.
